Sweden here we come!!

What a day we had yesterday! The schedule included sports in the morning, followed by a walk through the city to go on a boat ride. little did we know that the vessel wasn’t a pleasure craft…it was an exhilarating powerboat! The whole of the UK contingent then came together for the pre-jamboree party!

We’ll be making our way across the border this afternoon for the start of the jamboree. Everyone is getting very excited.

We’ll try to update the blog where possible but wifi may be lacking the first few days. until then though we’ll say hejdâ.

The Copenhagen adventure begins!

Unit 81 touched down at 5pm yesterday for the start of the jamboree adventure. After dropping our bags we went straight to the Tivoli Gardens for an evening of theme park rides and food.

the journey went very smoothly and all our young people are having an amazing time. today will bring the Sportsorama and ‘Discover Copenhagen’ activities. then tonight its the UK Party!!!

The unit is due to travel to the jamboree site at 12:00 lunchtime tomorrow.

Swerige Sweden! – West Mercia Scouts heading off to the 22nd World Scout Jamboree!

We can’t quite believe that after two years’ worth of preperations, we’re finally heading off to the World Jamboree in Sweden, on what will be a camp of a lifetime for all of our 36 Scouts and Explorer scouts from across the county!

World Jamborees have to be experienced in the flesh before one can truly understand how special they are. Where else does such a diverse group of cultures and people from every continent come together? Even the Olympic games can’t match us for the numbers of countries represented!

Over the course of the Jamboree we are hoping to be able to keep you all up-to-date with our Jamboree experience by posting a few blog posts. So watch this space and Join in our Jamboree adventure!

We’d also like to take this opportunity to say a HUGE THANKS to everyone who has supported our participants throughout the build up to the Jamboree. Whether it’s been helping on the selection weekend, supporting our fundraising efforts, or getting involved in promoting the Join-in-Jamboree programme we really do appreciate your support.

Here’s to a great Jamboree, and we can’t wait to tell you all about it upon our return!
